George M. Cappello, Esquire

John Cappello, Esquire

Since 1972 George M. Cappello has practiced before the Supreme, Superior, District, Family and Probate Courts of Rhode Island, the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island, and the First Circuit Court of Appeals. GEorge has a special interest in real estate law, negligence law, elder law, and business law. He has served as Assistant Legal Counsel to Governor Philip W. Noel, Chief Counsel to the Rhode Island Department of Corrections, and as Legal Counsel to clients including renown medical associations, churches, builders, and other professionals. Presently, Mr. Cappello is an approved closing attorney for over thirty local, regional, and national lending institutions and is an approved title agent for every major title insurance company in Rhode Island. George is also a member of the Title Standards Committee of the Rhode Island Bar Association. George received his B.A. in English from the University of Rhode Island in 1967 and his J.D. from Suffolk University School of Law in 1972.

Before beginning his practice of law in 2006, John Cappello joined the firm as a title examiner and legal assistant in 1998. He has experience in a variety of matters including complex real estate matters, personal injury, family law, probate law and general litigation.  John is certified as a Mediator in Alternative Dispute Resolution in the State of Rhode Island. In 2005 John served as a Rule 9 student attorney at the Roger Williams University Family and Disability Law Clinic in Providence, handling a range of cases including divorce, custody, visitation, restraining orders, and medical assistance denial appeals. In 2006 John received his J.D. from Roger Williams University School of Law and was awarded the CALI award for excellent achievement  in the study of Real Estate Transactions (2006). He received his A.B. from Brown University in 2002, with a double concentration in History and Ethics & Political Philosophy. While at Brown, John was a member of the baseball team, twice earning second-team All-Ivy honors. John is a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association, Title Standards Committee, and the American Bar Association.
